PSU People !!! What to Eat for This Dinner?
Atthapon Promnui
“A: Hurry up! It is getting crowded
B: Wait... let me pick a cloth bag first.
C: Okay, and don’t forget a mask....”

We always hear the dialogue above, don’t we? During the Covid-19 pandemic which spread all over the world, people have been paying special attention to their hygiene, especially when visiting a crowded place like a market. Accordingly, I would like to introduce you to a clean market where cheap and tasty food is sold.
This place is like a pantry for the five food groups. It is called the PSU Farmer Market.
The PSU Farmer Market is my favorite place where a variety of wonderful foods are sold, ranging from sweet and savories to fruits and veggies--- all are gathered in one place.

A variety of food is ready to serve at PSU Farmer Market!!!
Due to the wide a variety of food, the question popping into our head is “what to eat?”. So, I would like to introduce you to some delicious food as one of your choices at an affordable price.
The PSU Farmer Market is a hub for variety of food from different regions, namely northern food, central food, southern food, foreign food as well as fruits and veggies.
Some examples of southern food we should not miss out on when visiting Songkhla is fried chicken with sticky rice, southern Thai sweet noodle salad, rice salad and salted duck egg yolk, etc. These are such signature foods that there is a saying, “if you miss out tasting this food, you have not arrived Songkhla yet.”

1. Southern Thai noodle salad 2. Rice salad
3. Fried chicken with sticky rice
4. Salted duck egg yolk
Apart from distinctive southern Thai food, there is also northern Thai cuisine such as papaya salad, spicy minced pork salad, grilled chicken, and foreign food such as sushi, pizza, and desserts such as cake.
In addition, market-goers can enjoy a rainbow of fruits and veggies, and the locals are encouraged to produce organic veggies under the policy. There are several kinds of phakno (a set of local vegetables) and yummy colorful salads.

A wide range of fresh, colorful, and mouth-watering vegetables surely capture
the heart of healthy eaters. A handful on the left is young cashew
and that on the right is organic young Indian oak leaves.
The PSU Farmer Market has belonged to the Prince of Songkla University for more than 20 years. The market is likened to a shopping mall to many people because of fine, affordable fresh produce. For that reason, there is no doubt why the PSU Farmer Market has remained popular.
During Covid-19, Prince of Songkla University is aware of the problems; therefore, safety measures under the government policy ‘Don’t let your guard down’ are implemented in the market to prevent Covid-19 spreading.
The PSU Farmer Market in the New Normal era adopts stricter measures against Covid-19 by installing wall-mounted infrared thermometers and preparing the Thaichana application, hand sanitizers and plastic sheets around each stall for social distancing. In addition, market-goers must wear a face covering mask. These measures are taken not only for people’s health but also for ensuring safety practices so people can continue to buy their delicious food from here.
If anyone is struggling with what to eat for dinner, the PSU Farmer Market is where they should end up going. I guarantee gourmands and healthy eaters will surely love the place. Nowadays, people tend to take more care of their health, so when it comes to healthy food, ‘PSU Farmer Market’ will be on everyone’s lips.
